  7. SAM:Batch is an interactive job scheduler used by system administrators and
  8. authorized end-users to schedule, prioritize and control batch processing
  9. assignments on multiple queues.  SAM:Batch offers more flexibility than the
  10. UNIX commands "cron" and "at."  Users can prioritize jobs so they run in order
  11. of importance, chain jobs together so they execute in correct sequence, and
  12. schedule both ad hoc and repetitive jobs to run at specified times or time
  13. intervals.  User-defined variables permit complex inter-job dependencies to be
  14. managed with ease.  SAM:Batch provides multiple queues for job submissions
  15. with complete security over access to each queue and its associated jobs.
  16. Full-featured command-line and menu interfaces are provided.

  18. SAM:Batch is a member of the SCH:SAM suite; a set of platform independent UNIX
  19. system management tools.  SCH:Batch is available for both character and X
  20. window (motif) terminals.  SAM:Batch is also available as an individual
  21. component or as part of the bundled SCH:SAM suite.
